Homes, care and support for older people

Make our house your home in Bedford!

Come and live in our Abbeyfield Bedford house where older people enjoy homely surroundings, security and support.

We provide both supported sheltered housing and extra care in a peaceful, friendly atmosphere where residents are encouraged to remain as independent as possible and make the house a home for life.

It's a home-from-home with care and support when you need it from our professional and caring house staff and volunteers.

  • Meals provided
  • Staff on site 24 hours a day
  • Extra care if you need it
  • Close to Bedford town centre
  • Maintain your independence
  • Build new friendships
  • Respite and holiday breaks offered

We are a not-for-profit charity now in our fifth decade of providing sheltered accommodation in a quiet part of central Bedford and have received the Abbeyfield Gold Star accreditation by our parent body, the national Abbeyfield Society. Our house is in Chaucer Road where we also provide Extra Care for those who need it. Click to find out more about the facilities. We are currently taking part in Gen2Gen scheme, an intergenerational project, providing young people with accreditation to help older people get online using an iPad. The residents love it.
